Dr. James Wilcox
Dr. James Wilcox, MD, CAQ, RMSK, is a highly accomplished physician specializing in family medicine and sports medicine. He earned his medical degree from Indiana University and completed his residency in Family Medicine at IU Health Ball Memorial Hospital, followed by a Sports Medicine Fellowship at Western Michigan University. Dr. Wilcox is certified in musculoskeletal ultrasound and is a fellow of the American Academy of Family Physicians. He is also a member of the American Medical Society of Sports Medicine.
Dr. Wilcox has held notable roles, including Medical Director for Staff Medics and the USA National Rugged Maniac races. He has extensive clinical experience, having practiced in both rural and urban settings, most recently at Eskenazi Health in Indianapolis, focusing on Sports Medicine and Family Medicine.
Currently, Dr. Wilcox holds a key academic position at Indiana University School of Medicine, where he serves as the Assistant Director of Point of Care Ultrasound (POCUS). He leads the integration of POCUS into the medical curriculum as the HRSA PRIME POCUS Thread Director and is actively involved in teaching and research. His clinical and research interests include primary care ultrasound, musculoskeletal medicine, and regenerative medicine. An internationally recognized speaker, Dr. Wilcox is dedicated to advancing the field through innovative diagnostic techniques and collaborative care, helping athletes and active individuals return to the activities they love.
